Under Texas Law, Governor Rick Perry has the ability to call endless special sessions in the state senate, and the power to choose the topics in which they debate or vote on. This means he can continue to call as many special sessions as he likes on the subject of the controversial SB5 anti-abortion bill. Not only is it a waste of tax dollars, it prevents the state senate from talking about topics that truly advance the State of Texas. It also infringes of the wishes of the people of Texas, as a majority of people are opposed to the bill. We demand that the governor be barred from calling these special sessions on the topic of abortion restrictions.
