This petition is to have a reform of the civil tort laws that allow for suits to be brought against those acquitted of criminal charges. Allowing them to be sued in a civil case is double jeopardy as the person is summarily being tried for the same crime twice. The only difference is the civil case does not incarcerate, it allows for monetary damages for a crime that the defendant was acquitted of.
