To prevent welfare abuse, require all who are on welfare to submit a periodic drug test.

On numerous occasions I've witnessed the abuse and misuse of government assistance such as welfare and food stamps. Time and time again I've seen evidence of drug use and sale in the government-assisted apartments here in South Carolina. Drug use is common enough throughout the world, but those who do drugs should not be doing so on taxpayer and on government money. I believe that those who are on food stamps and government-assisted living should be required to submit periodic and random drug tests. Those who genuinely need the help and are trying to make a better life for themselves are the ones who deserve it. Drugs are illegal and those who do drugs rarely contribute to society. This is a serious and yet overlooked problem here in our country. Why pay money to support their bad habits?
