prevent wireless carriers from requiring a data plan for all smart phones when the customer owns the smart phone.

Created by M.O. on October 31, 2013

The requirement by the wireless carriers to have a data plan where a smart phone is involved is a waste of a consumer’s funds where the smart phone is owned by the customer (no longer subsidized) and a data plan is not wanted. A consumer should have the option – if the phone is not currently subsidized (owned outright by the consumer) – to only link a minutes / texting plan and forgo a data plan.
