Prioritize funding for basic research in fields like computing, energy, medicine, and materials.

Created by K.H. on January 15, 2013

We understand that sustaining funding for research can be difficult when deficit reduction and spending cuts are taking effect. But by shortchanging medical, science, and technology researchers, the United States will fall behind in emerging industries like the one forming around graphene (a recently discovered material poised to revolutionize the IT, energy, and medicine industries) or renewable energy technologies.

With commercialization of federally-funded research and development as an outlined goal of the Obama administration, we hope that the White House continues to oppose attempts at cutting back on the kind of investments that will bring America back to center-stage in the 21st century.
