Prioritize mental health treatment.

Created by D.R. on August 07, 2013

As senseless crimes are committed by those with mental illness who have no treatment due to anosognosia and other obstacles, it is critical that we mandate treatment for those diagnosed with mental illness who are hospitalized or jailed. It is often unreasonably difficult to get help when the client is non-compliant with treatment but not an imminent danger to self or others. Even if the patient is hospitalized on a 5150, or jailed for several days, they are often released to the streets with no money, no destination, and no way to get there. These people need training in coping, social, and communication skills, and education /training to be productive. We need humane recovery centers with skilled, trained mental health workers and sound programs.
