Prioritize reunions between Korean-Americans and their North Korean relatives who have been divided for 65 years

Created by T.Y. on May 04, 2015

I'm starting this petition on behalf of Divided Families USA which is a grassroots nonprofit organization looking to have reunions for Korean-Americans and their North Korean family members. These citizens have built a life in the US as Americans but have lived with the tragedy of separated families for over 65 years.

Ten years ago, we had an estimated 100,000 divided family members in the United States, but most of them have passed away. We still have thousands of them and most of them are in their 80's and 90's and among them are people like my grandmother, who has 2 younger sisters in North Korea.

We must facilitate these reunions while we still can. Its a human right to be able to see your family. A right that many Koreans have been without. Let's make this right!
