Proclaim April 2nd National Reconciliation Day

Created by D.C. on February 18, 2015

In 1989, the syndicated advice columnist Ann Landers, responded to a letter from a reader about those friends and family that are no longer a part of her life.

“Then my thoughts turn to the dark side. I remember the feelings I’ve hurt, and I recall my own hurt feelings -the misunderstandings and unmended fences that separated us and set up barriers.”

Family relationships are paramount to the health of the children for generations to come. From family relationships children learn how to negotiate love in all it’s less-than-perfect forms. As children mature, these values ripple through the extended family, communities, and beyond.

Asked to reprint the letter, Ann Landers responded enthusiastically. “What a great suggestion! "From now on April 2 will be Reconciliation Day!"
