Proclaim April 7, 2014 a remembrance day for the victims of the genocide committed against the Tutsis in Rwanda in 1994.

Created by J.N. on February 05, 2014

This petition is for President Obama to proclaim April 7, 2014 a day of remembrance for the victims of a genocide that the USA has officially recognized and has helped in bringing its perpetrators to justice.

As we commemorate the 20th anniversary of this dark chapter of humanity, it is only befitting that our President proclaims April 7, 2014 a day of remembrance in solidarity with the survivors of last genocide of the 20th century. A genocide that took place in plain view for all to see and yet the world failed to act; as a result, over a million people were slaughtered in just 3 months a time.

Let's remember the past for the sake of the future.
