Proclaim Jan1st a day of recognition for the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation which freed theAfroAmericanSlaves

Created by E.J. on December 07, 2012

This is a request for the President of The United States of America to proclaim January 1st a day of recognition for the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abe Lincoln on January 1, 1863. As of this date there are no calendar companies that publish this event on a regular basis. If the President declared Jan 1st a national day of recognition the calendar publishers are more inclined to place it on calendars in years to come. The freedom of the slaves in America should be noted on every calendar in America. What happened on January 1, 1863 should be known by all Americans, especially Afro-Americans. Please note this is not a request for a holiday.
