I am petitioning you, Mr. President, starting from the so-called bully pulpit of your office, to consider issuing a NATIONAL APOLOGY to Native-Americans and African-Americans on behalf of the entire U.S. government. This could precede or go in tandem with the establishment of a TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMITTEE not unlike ones that have been established in Canada, Australia and South Africa. Have not national apologies already been issued to Japanese-Americans for their forced internment during WWII, and the Hawaiian peoples for the "annexation" of their islands back in the 1800's?
