Prescription drug ads are contributing to the over-medication of America. These ads are extremely biased. They overstate the benefits of the drug and understate the risks. They also undermine the doctor's authority to prescribe medication. Doctor have the necessary background knowledge to judge the need of the patient. Patients are incapable of understanding complex conditions from a 30 second advertisement. The US and New Zealand are the only countries that allow these ads. They are contributing to patients taking medication that they do not need.
Please call upon congress to ban these harmful advertisements!
