Amanda Knox was acquitted on all charges by an Italian Court and then reconvicted. Extradition would go against the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which provides, "Nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy" in any legal prosecution. The United States has an Extradition Treaty with Italy, however, this treaty, or any other treaty, cannot supersede the rights granted to U.S. Citizens by the U.S. Constitution.
