This petition is aimed at saving the Social Security Trust Fund from being used as a source of revenue for other government agencies. Successive administrations, both Democratic and Republican, have borrowed from the Trust Fund at a rate that the fund will become insolvent by 2036. To make matters worse, The joint Senate-House "super-committee" is considering legislation that would cut social security benefits, and increases co-pays for medicare, which places an unbearable burden on our most vulnerable citizens: seniors, the disabled, widows/widowers, and orphaned children. We call upon President Obama to protect our most vulnerable citizens, by introducing legislation in the Senate to prohibit the federal government from borrowing against the Social Security Trust Fund.
