Healthcare insurers should not have the authority to deny coverage of prescription drugs ordered by a doctor.
My wife has been battling a drug-resistant bug known as C.Diff, and only one drug has been found effective for her. She weighs under 89Lb and suffers from malnutrition because of this bug.
AARP Medicare Complete by United Healthcare has denied her coverage for the one costly drug that would save her life. Her doctor spent countless hours appealing. Meanwhile my wife is losing her battle, ravaged by the disease. I am sure many more Americans die due to these denials of care.
We need regulation to eliminate these "death panels". We can't let insurers second-guess physicians or override doctors' orders. We ask that these practices be outlawed. United Healthcare: let my wife live!
