There are undoubtedly numerous and complex factors that lead to the ills of society like mass shootings. But we do know that every human is guided to some extent by their egos every minute of every day. Mass killers use public venues and expect the public to be in their grip during and after their exploits.
If our society wanted to remove the glory factor, we could show law enforcement we have no interest in names and identities of these unfortunate and sick perpetrators. We can’t ban or censor the press but we can petition law enforcement for a new type of societal norm.
By keeping news of these atrocities to faceless and nameless killers, we would also give the families of these deranged people spme privacy.
