Prohibit Mandatory Membership in an H.O.A. as a Condition of Home Ownership.

Created by R.R. on March 05, 2014

Republicans believe that contracts requiring membership in a labor union as a condition of employment should be outlawed. It is time to extend that same protection to American home owners, and prohibit mandatory membership in an H.O.A. corporation as a condition of home ownership.

60 million Americans - 1/5 of the U.S. population - live in homes governed by an H.O.A. corporation. There are 300,000 H.O.A.s in the U.S., which collect $50 billion (with a "b") in dues every year. Americans in these H.O.A.s are being embezzled from by industry professionals, while losing their 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th Amendment rights under the guise of contract law.

To paraphrase Ron Paul, making home owners pay dues to be “represented” by an organization they disagree with is hardly fair or just.
