Prohibit or tax all U.S. retailers and businesses from "Black Friday" sales and/or promotions on Thanksgiving Day.

Created by S.W. on November 25, 2013

In an effort to preserve a nearly 400 year American traditional holiday and to protect the social fabric of American family, please prohibit national retailers and small businesses from initiating retail store operations on Thanksgiving Day. This has exponentially scarred the American people's ability to place emphasis on family versus work and profit over the past decade. Many employees are forced to work or change plans to spend time with their family in support of increased economic profitability. Either impose large taxes on businesses that choose to operate on Thanksgiving or prohibit them from doing so prior to midnight local time, on the Friday after Thanksgiving, in all U.S. states and territories as doing so threatens one of the countries finest values.
