We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Prohibit politicians on all levels from accepting campaign contributions from the gun lobby and its affiliates

Created by D.H. on June 13, 2016

It is time for Congress to take specific action on the pervasive gun violence in this country. This issue has gone on, unchecked, for far too long. Condolences do not offer solutions. Current campaign finance regulations allow for politicians to accept contributions from private interest groups, such as the gun lobby. This effectively removes democracy from our political landscape and places a great deal of power in the hands of entities with an agenda. This must change. In the case of gun violence, lives depend on it. We can propose action at the point of sale, or in background checks, but none of that will work if we do not first ensure that our politicians' decisions cannot be influenced by entities who clearly have a vested interest in policies that only favor their agendas.
