When individuals commit the most heinous of crimes, the media almost immediately transforms the criminals into celebrities, delving into their past, giving voice to anyone who has anything to say about them. Why? Why do we, as a society, reward the most merciless of crimes against the most innocent of citizens, with fame?
It is the goal of this petition to create a law that ensures that those who victimize are remembered only as what they are - criminals. It is the hope of this petitioner that society NEVER know the names of murderous individuals who so flagrantly take the lives of innocent men, women, and children, and destroy the lives of their families.
Perhaps, if there was less glory in being a murderous maniac, there would be fewer maniacs seeking it.
