America has come to be viewed as the land of the ignorant and the home of the fearful--and, unfortunately, that image is not without warrant. We have allowed and are still allowing ignorance and hate to flourish and spread within our society in ways that, given the resources and information at our disposal, are unacceptable. Worse still there are virtually no consequences for those who hold hateful and ignorant views, leaving them free to influence others.
No longer can hateful and damaging ignorance be unchallenged in our society, no longer can we allow progress to be inhibited by those whose power to be effective and contribute to our society meaningfully is being blocked by their own ignorance, and no longer can that ignorance be allowed to have a say in our country's future.
