It has been proven by experts that consumption of alcohol by a pregnant woman can stunt fetal growth or weight, create distinctive facial stigmata, damage neurons and brain structures, which can result in intellectual disability and other psychological or behavioral problems, and also cause other physical damage. Since 1987, fetal alcohol syndrome has been the leading cause of intellectual disability in America. Once a baby is born, it is illegal for them to drink alcohol for the next 21 years. Why should they be exposed to it as a fetus?
