Prohibit Senators and Congressmen from receiving salaries or benefits after they have left office.

Created by L.D. on December 30, 2012

It is difficult to justify why Senators and Congressmen should receive their salaries and any benefits after they have left office. This perk must be stopped and our legislators should be held to the same standards as the working public.

People who have income for life should not be allowed to dictate to those who have worked all their lives for Social Security or Medicare.
In the interest of balancing the budget, all unnecessary expenses must be cut. I propose that this benefit for the legislators be repealed and that further salaries or benefits be prohibited once they have left office.
