The taking of an oath to serve the broad public interest, when taking public office, is meaningless when the person taking that oath has taken another to serve a special interest while in his/her public office. The oath taken in connection with a public office ought to be the paramount rather than the penultimate oath. All persons taking an oath for public office should affirm the oath as paramount and renounce all other oaths that are in conflict with the broad public interest versus special interests.
