"Taxation without Representation" is directly tied to the birth of our great country through the American Revolution against the British Empire. Colonists in the Americas were subject to disproportionate taxation without a fair voice in British government. This same principle is now becoming more prevalent in the United States of America today - high progressive taxes are levied on a minority of individuals, while a larger minority pays next to no income tax.
Each American's voice in our government should not be subject to taxation without equal representation. Our voice during elections should be equal to our funding of our government through either a) proportional voting as we have now AND a flat tax, OR b) progressive voting rights with our current progressive tax structure.
