"Dead Beat Dad" is discriminatory, inaccurate and unjust . A man can be labeled as a Dead Beat Dad if he fails to pay Child Support for 3 months or has accrued arrears of $5,000.00. This label can be placed upon a man despite the fact that he had kept previous obligations. Did he lose his job? His home? Did he become ill and is unable to work? To have this Title/ Label placed upon a Man for failing to pay without knowing why he has failed to pay or fallen behind is discriminatory and misrepresents the Father.
There are "NO" agencies that use the term" Dead Beat Women" instead they are labeled as a "Dead Beat Parent". This shows bias within the system. This Petition is to request that the Term " Dead Beat Dad" be prohibited from use by all Local, State and Federal Officials.
