Citizens of the United States of America are as diverse as the population of the world because their origins are of the world. An American is not defined by place. By definition, an American is defined as one who adheres to the tenets of inalienable rights derived from life itself; who supports the freedoms guaranteed and enumerated in the Bill of Rights; codified in the United State constitution. Americans have no place; but rather a belief, a creed. That an American has a place, a homeland, is to pervert not only the history of American freedom, but the very conscience of the American nation. No department or agency of the American government would refer to “homeland” in reference to the geography of the United States.
