Many websites use tracking cookies and other software planted in the user's browser to automatically and discreetly monitor the user's browsing habits, including websites visited, email contacts, and even physical location, for the purposes of targeted advertizing, "tailored suggestions" and similar. Though it's purpose is often benign, the benefit to the user is negligible bordering on non-existent and comes at too high a cost: that of our inalienable right to personal privacy, which ought not be infringed upon so lightly.
Though many sites offer the option to opt out of this practice, many do not, and those that do only offer it to registered users despite the practice also being used on unregistered visitors. This isn't enough. I propose to ban the practice entirely.
