The residents of Southwest Ranches, Pembroke Pines and Weston are completely against the building of an immigration detention center in SWR. Thousands of families have chosen this area for their families because they thought it was safe. The proposed location for this facility is less than 2.5 miles away from FOUR different schools.
This project will have a significant negative impact on the environment. Millions are being spent trying to restore the Everglades, Florida’s most important natural resource for water. This facility will use substantially more water resources than a commercial or residential project would.
This project will certainly lower our property values and severely increase traffic in what is supposed to be a rural area. This is not an appropriate location!
