Prohibition of the sale, possession and harboring of automatic and semi-automatic guns catagorized as "assault weapons".

The weapons discovered at the killing site of the Newton Conneticut massacre were weapons manufactured for the military for assault in battle and for law enforcement to protect the public from criminal activity. We, as citizens, engaging in our everyday freedoms should not have to fear that these weapons of 'mass' destruction will be used against us by the unstable and enraged. It has been repeatedly demonstrated that it is difficult to maintain control of these weapons and keep them out of the hands of those who will harm us and our children. This petition calls for our government to ban the sale, use, possession and harboring of these weapons in the United States and its territories except for the explicit use by the military and law enforcement. Uphold our right, "Freedom from Fear".
