Promote and Pass the Animal Defense Fund's Law the "Protect Your Food Act" and Stop States Ag-Gag Laws.

The Act will "Minimize the risk to citizens of contracting food-borne illnesses by prohibiting state governments from purchasing or distributing food products from any jurisdiction that passes an Ag-Gag law." Ag-Gag laws attack a consumers’ right to know. When consumers learn that 99% of the animals raised for food are raised in factory farms, they generally agree that lawmakers should focus on strengthening animal cruelty laws, not prosecuting the whistle-blowers. These ALEC-inspired laws take aim at anyone who tries to expose horrific acts of animal cruelty, dangerous animal-handling practices that might lead to food safety issues, or blatant disregard for environmental laws designed to protect waterways from animal waste runoff. This violates the civil rights of all whistle-blowers.
