I understand we haven't raised minimum wage for about 18 years. So why isn't minimum wage tied to cost of living? Why doesn't minimum wage have a COLA, just like Social Security, federal retirees, and many regular wage earners. Congress, Fed employees, and others get raises that are loosely based on the rise in the cost of living, so why not minimum wage?
We should go back to the last adjustment of minimum wage and raise it by the cost of living since then, and continue to raise it automatically each year based on cost of living - in order for it to still be relevant to living a life in the USA.
If minimum wage is the minimum an American citizen can live on, how can we not raise it as the cost to live rises?
