promote energy efficiency through a universal accounting requirement of energy inputs for all commodities.

Created by C.A. on March 18, 2012

What if we adopted a universal measure (joule) and required through legislation that all joules in the production, distribution and consumption phases of a commodities “life-cycle” be accounted for and communicated in a standard format? What if consumers could consider this information when making decisions regarding individual consumption or use choices? What if citizens and policy makers could use this information when analyzing systemic energy use patterns? A uniform accounting and communications system based on joules would better inform the decisions that producers, consumers and citizens make. Energy efficiency is made a national priority and the public is invited into informed dialogue and debate regarding individual energy use and collective energy policy.
