In rural Iowa, as well as throughout the nation, contractors are required to pay workman's compensation insurance to protect our employee's in the event of an accident on the job.
Workman's Compensation rates continue to rise and are one of the highest costs of doing business.
Amish/Mennonites are underbidding our jobs because they are not required to pay this expensive cost due to religious freedom. I propose that if they are doing business outside of their religious sects, they too should be required to buy this insurance.
