Psychologically, a desire to enter law enforcement, is often skewed by a need for power, which gives way to abuse of that power. There is psychological testing, however it is obviously not enough. The state of our nation is declining rapidly when it comes to trust in law enforcement.
I propose that people should ONLY be able to enter a job as a high ranking member of law enforcement, after being nominated for that job, by the public or federal law enforcement, from another public service job that is solely designed to help people. As in, E.M.T. or Fire Services.
This way we can ensure that the people in charge entered the work force with the intention of helping others. Even if they entered it intending to get promoted to law official, they work helping people first with NO AUTHORITY.
