Anti-abortion movements seek to criminalize abortion and/or restrict the practice of it as much as possible. This movement fails to address the issue of preventing unplanned pregnancies, thus lowering the national abortion rate.
The White House should promote legislation that ensures the public will have greater access to educational materials regarding birth control and family planning options. Additionally, the White House should promote legislation which increases funding for providing low cost contraceptives (oral pills and condoms) to targeted groups which display higher teen pregnancy rates and/or abortion rates.
The best way to eliminate abortions is to promote social education regarding safer sex practices and contraception use. We hope the administration will adopt this stance.
