Using amendments to the Constitution to restrict freedoms is contrary to the reason our forefathers instituted it.
Many amendments have been proposed that would actually restrict the freedom of our citizens. Luckily, none have passed. The main reason for them not passing is that neither party has had enough votes to push them through. There needs to be a system in place that ensures that any amendments made in the future are adopted in order to guarantee liberties and freedoms.
