Using closed-source software in our government and schools should be stopped unless it's absolutely necessary! We're living in a time when our government and schools can take advantage of free software which accomplishes the same task without requiring large sums of money. An example, in schools and elsewhere in our government, having Microsoft Office as the must have office suite is unnecessary when we have software like LibreOffice and others. On a more technical note, using taxpayer money to pay for extremely expensive server-side software like Coldfusion should be stopped. There are better solutions that are free, like PHP. Even one school or governement agency moving to free software could save hundreds of thousands of dollars.
