Promote passage of a constitutional amendment permitting Congress to regulate campaign finance.

Created by C.F. on June 16, 2013

Political elections are now up for sale to the highest bidder, and the Supreme Court has decided that the U.S. Constitution prevents Congress from any serious limits on political spending by the wealthiest among us because they regard that spending to be an expression of the First Amendment. By this logic, some of us deserve more freedom of speech than others. The Obama Administration should therefore recommend to Congress and the American public a constitutional amendment that clarifies that the spending of money on advertisement is not the same thing as speech, and is therefore not protected by the First Amendment, and can thus be regulated by Congress.
