Too much money is being spent on failed anti-drug policies/enforcement, and wasteful, constituency-based defense contracts. Too little money is spent on supporting and improving public education. Federal spending should be restructured with a much stronger emphasis on subsidizing states' public education systems, including public universities. We need a swift and pervasive improvement in our nation's public school systems; this as much as anything will help to secure our future as a strong voice in an increasingly competitive and interlinked global culture. Reprioritizing our spending to provide the best learning environment for our kids is perhaps the best way to not only serve the generations to come, but honor their, and our ancestors.
