According to recent studies, the population of homeless people in America is on the rise, currently at around 13%. This tragic issue is largely caused by the rising prices of purchasing and maintaining a home. However, these prices don't have to serve as a barrier between people and the comfort and security provided by owning a home.
There have been recent movements towards making housing more affordable and more efficient for all, and I feel that these efforts deserve to be supported by the United States Government.
It would be very simple for the government to provide funds for this research in the form of (a) providing tax breaks or grants to aid in this research for affordable, low-footprint housing or (b) Sponsoring competitions for the improvement of this technology.
