promote timeliness of Congressional budget submissions by imposing a penalty (salary reduction) proportional to lateness

Created by N.K. on April 10, 2012

The continued failure of our Legislative Branch of Government to provide a budget for consideration and signature by the Office of the President is inexcusable. This situation is easily remedied by making members of Congress personally accountable, such as by imposing a penalty that is proportional to the length of time that the budget submission is delinquent. For example, if Congress provides the budget one month late then the penalty on each and every member of Congress would be equivalent to 1/12 of their salary. A simple solution that with Presidential leadership and the authority of the Executive Branch could be implemented. The people demand accountability!
