I would like to propose a creation for a new type of VISA (Category M-1) which will allow family members of Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard and honorably discharged Veterans to visit their relatives in the United States. The U.S. Military members and veterans have given years of dedication and service to this country and they must be allowed to have family members and loved ones by their side. My proposal for an M-1 (Military/Veteran) family visa would allow a family member to enter the United States and stay for up to 90 days. No extensions should be available, since this visa type is intended for a brief visit only.
A family member must apply for a M-1 Visa at the U.S. Consulate abroad and must submit proof of family relationship. Family members must be parents or siblings.
