From Monday, June 6th, to Sunday, June 12th, there were 7 mass shootings in the U.S. To stop these acts of violence, there is only one solution- changing our nation's gun laws. The first change should be re-implementing the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, an act that established a five day background check, so there is a longer wait time (currently there is an instant background check) to ensure a more thorough search. The second law addition should be to reenact the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, a ban on semi- automatic firearms that were considered assault weapons, to ensure that weapons that would be used for mass shootings are not accessible. The final element that must be implemented is a standard baseline for gun control for all businesses selling firearms and ammunition.
