propose an amendment to the Constitution granting the federal government the power to regulate campaign spending.

Created by K.O. on April 25, 2014

Money is not speech.

In our current system of government, over 91% of all campaigns for elective office go to the candidate who spends the most money. As a result our elected officials pay no attention to the good of the nation or of their constituents, but only to the desires of the very wealthiest campaign spenders.

The rulings of the Roberts Supreme Court have only reinforced the fact that American government is for sale. The rich can buy the government of their choice, while ordinary Americans have their voices drowned out under a wave of money.

The only lasting solution to this problem begins with granting the federal government power in the Constitution to regulate campaign spending. Please propose an amendment to that effect to Congress at once so we can end this corruption.
