The incidence of gun violence in this country is alarming, and our present body of laws are clearly incapable and ill-equipped to prevent the sorts of tragedies we have seen over and over again over the past few decades. While efforts at gun control are worthwhile, they will all result in failure, facing legal challenges in the courts and in our legislatures, so long as we cling to this notion that guns are a sacred, constitutional right. Therefore, I propose that we propose a new amendment that will overturn the Second Amendment to the Constitution.
