The Electoral College was established in the U. S. Constitution because our founding fathers didn't think the American public at that time would know enough about the political system to intelligently select a president. Education and technology has rendered that position invalid. The Electoral College invalidates each person's vote by subjecting it to a select group of persons. For each person's vote to count, the president must be elected by popular vote.
