Simply put, there are no non-religiously motivated reasons as to why we should deny same-sex couples the right to marry. Any claims of same-sex marriage "ruining society" or "corrupting children" have been thoroughly debunked.
Leaving the issue of marriage up to the states has proven to be problematic, as the majority sees no problem in stripping away rights of the minority. 41 states have either state constitutional amendments or statutes barring same-sex marriage. The "Defense" of Marriage Act complicates this further, despite its dubious constitutionality.
We, the undersigned, want serious effort on behalf of the Administration to support a Constitutional amendment guaranteeing this basic right.
