We would like the President to propose a bill that would cap the pay for Members of Congress and the President at no more than the average teachers pay in said year. This would return the respected positions to a place of honor by making them a position of honor and service instead of a lifelong, well paying job.
It would also have the effect of forcing to government to look closely at teacher pay and help these valuable molders of our youth to earn a respectable living.
I know it's a long shot to think that Congress would actually vote to cut their own pay, but they certainly have no problem cutting pay and benefits for the elderly, the military and our veterans.
