My petition requests that the Obama Administration propose to Congress a bill that would create a national federal holiday on Super Bowl Sunday. The holiday would be observed on Monday, allowing Employers to give their employees the day off to spend with family and friends. Football is an American tradition and the Super Bowl captures many American values outside of football--i.e., athletics, music, art, and commerce. The recognition of the Super Bowl as a national holiday would thus allow people of diverse backgrounds to come together around a common American tradition.
